Inhabited by an urban imagination, Martin Boissard's pictorial practice lies at the crossroads of hyperrealism and abstraction. Walls, fences or advertising posters reveal holes, hollows, accidents, layers, like so many perspectives that are both suggested and obstructed. By revisiting the history of figurative painting, his aim is to update the issues of pictorial formalism - those of flatness and its double, depth.
